THE HACIENDA
Just 90 minutes from Mexico City
in the State of Morelos
Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas features 20 luxury rooms, some with private pools, jacuzzis, terraces, and an internal patio. A spa with a temazcal, a restaurant-bar that will delight your palate, a heated pool, tennis and paddle tennis courts, horseback riding, and many more surprises in a unique natural setting.
Our magnificent hacienda, whose construction began in 1529 under the orders of Hernán Cortés, is a true historical treasure. The legacy of Spanish architecture, with its impressive barrel vaults and semicircular walls, transports our visitors back to the 16th century. Initially, the hacienda served as a monastery for the Franciscan order.
In 1558, the Franciscan missionaries mysteriously abandoned the monastery, marking the beginning of a new era for San Gabriel. The hacienda was transformed into a sugar plantation that would later become Mexico's largest and most influential sugar mill. During the War of Independence, this historic site witnessed important events, and during the Mexican Revolution, it served as Don Emiliano Zapata's headquarters.
Today, in the 21st century, Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas has become a luxury tourist destination, on par with the great European castles. Here, the personal service and warm spirit of our team combine with efficient hotel facilities.
We offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy lush natural spaces, with palm trees, bamboo plantations, edible forests, and organic gardens.
